Leer una sola vela
Open, high, low, close. The body shows who won; the wicks show who fought. A long lower wick into support is rejected selling — a statement about order flow, not a shape to memorize.
Los tres patrones que vale la pena conocer
- Engulfing — the current body completely swallows the previous one. At a support zone after a decline, a bullish engulfing is one of the highest-probability reversal candles on the chart.
- Pin bar / hammer— a tiny body with one long wick: an attempted move that got slammed back. Meaning comes entirely from location — at a level it's a signal, mid-range it's noise.
- Inside bar— compression after expansion. The market catching its breath; the break of the mother bar's range often starts the next leg.
Qué ignorar
The 60-name pattern zoo (abandoned baby, three white soldiers, concealing baby swallow…) mostly re-labels the same buyer/seller logic. If you understand rejection, engulfment and compression, you already read all of them. Backtests across FX and index CFDs consistently show single-candle patterns carry near-zero edge without a level and a trend filter attached.
